May’s event entitled “Innovative Land Uses – Creating Partnerships for Mixed Use” was a great success and was well attended by members from across the industry. Mike Brescia, VP at Western Securities, gave an engaging presentation on some of the approvals challenges that have been encountered on the Stadium Shopping Centre project. Joel Armitage provided the City of Calgary’s perspective and explained the steps that are being taken to achieve approvals in a more timely manner. A candid but healthy roundtable discussion took place both at City Hall and then in a more informal setting at the post-event social.
