July 17, 2018
The Young Leaders ULI group in Calgary recently gave a unique opportunity for members and visitors to learn about exciting emerging technologies in the realm of connected and autonomous vehicles as part of a lunch and learn on June 26th.
The diverse group of 35 attendees from development, design, engineering, finance, and other fields took part in a rare chance to hear a presentation from an industry leader, Rod Schebesch, a senior vice president with Stantec, hosted in WSP’s newly renovated Calgary office. The event focused on the ways in which emerging technologies are changing and influencing how we approach transportation, planning, and urban design, while giving a valuable perspective on considerations surrounding potential future adoption of these interesting technologies.
Over the lunchtime session Rod shared his extensive knowledge and opened an engaging dialogue with the group, providing information, responses, and informed opinions about how these exciting technologies can affect different areas of the urban landscape, and the built environment.
The event was well received by attendees, and with Calgary soon to welcome the introduction of its first shared autonomous vehicles, gave a timely spotlight on these new technologies.
