Calgary Mentorship
ULI Alberta – Young Leaders Group (Calgary Chapter) collaborates with the Real Estate Student Association (RESA) at the Haskayne School of Business, University of Calgary each year to host a mentorship program for students. The purpose of the mentorship program is to foster an exchange of professional ideas, friendship, and expertise among students and young industry professionals to enhance the growth curve and experience of both parties.
Since the launch of the mentorship program in 2019, partnership between ULI Alberta Young Leaders Group (Calgary Chapter) and RESA has allowed students to pair with an industry professional in the early stages of their career. The relationship formed between the two parties contributes to a student’s understanding of what it means to be a young professional in the industry, hence enabling students to be better prepared for life after graduation.
Benefits of Being a Mentor
As mentors, industry professionals teach new skills and explain, or build awareness on different viewpoints for the mentee in the real estate industry. Mentors serve as the link between career goals and the realities of the business world. Mentors give students a new perspective, broader outlook, and help them understand the industry. As mentors, individuals discover the personal and professional benefits of making a difference in a student’s career development.
Benefits of Being a Mentee
As mentees, students benefit from personal interactions with an experienced real estate professional. Mentees are given an opportunity to create and foster a relationship that they may keep for years past their involvement in the mentorship program.
