    Lisa Kahn

    Coordinator, Guidebook for Great Communities, City of Calgary

    Lisa is currently a Coordinator at The City of Calgary overseeing the creation of the Guidebook for Great Communities. Over Lisa’s 15 years at The City of Calgary, she has had a range of positions and responsibilities including working on Centre City land use planning, the Land Use Bylaw Team and Citywide Planning & Policy. Lisa has a Masters of Environmental Design and is a full member of APPI.

    John Lewis

    President, Intelligent Futures

    John Lewis is the President and founder of Intelligent Futures – a Calgary-based firm of versatile community problem solvers. John brings together elements of community engagement, design thinking, strategic planning, effective communication and capacity-building to create positive impact in communities and organizations alike. Projects that John has worked on have won awards from the Canadian Institute of Planners, the Commonwealth Association of Planners, the Alberta Professional the International Association for Public Participation, the Federation of Canadian Municipalities, the Canadian Urban Institute and the Alberta Urban Municipalities Association. John is also the host of 360 Degree City – a podcast that explores city building from a variety of angles.

    David White

    Principal, CivicWorks Planning + Design Inc.

    David is a professional urban planner and Principal + Founder of CivicWorks--a team of urbanists with a hybrid skill-set in planning, physical design, communications, and information architecture. Under his leadership, the CivicWorks studio has established a reputation for design integrity and great city-building across a range of built form typologies and scales of planning practice. His work is centered on leading multi-disciplinary teams through complex projects—negotiating community, political, and regulatory processes to achieve celebrated outcomes for a variety of land use and development scenarios. David is an expert communicator, respected in the planning and development industry for his ability to conceptualize and advocate for the strategic merits of community-shaping projects that, together, enable a city's overarching vision to occur. He ensures that all project outcomes are measured against context, policy, opportunities for innovation, and the degree to which a design proposal is communicated with clarity. Whether serving client needs, City-led initiatives or local community-building efforts, his drive to achieve practical planning solutions is matched only by his passion for great design and visionary placemaking.

    Chris Ollenberger

    Managing Principal, QuantumPlace Developments LTD.

    Mr. Ollenberger is a seasoned real estate development executive with over 20 years of broad real estate management, design, planning, construction and engineering experience in creating innovative, sustainable urban communities and buildings. He is well recognized for his ability to conceptualize new neighbourhoods and buildings, and carry that vision through planning, engineering, approvals and construction with cost-effective results and problem solving. Mr. Ollenberger strives to incorporate the principals of placemaking into his projects through quality public spaces, travel corridors, visual enticement through execution in architecture and landscaping, and inclusion of public engagement as a key component in developing enthusiasm and support. He enjoys a strong track record of strategic planning, public consultation, visioning and concept development, negotiating with regulatory officials at all levels, complex land use and development approvals, engineering submissions, feasibility analysis, site acquisition, financing and effective communications. As founding President and CEO of CMLC, he led every aspect of the redevelopment of East Village in downtown Calgary, utilizing his broad and diverse experience to successfully bring over $650M of development projects to the community by third parties to this award winning community. He is currently Managing Principal of QuantumPlace Developments Ltd., a development company he founded in 2012 based on sound strategy and strong execution of a variety of mixed-use, commercial, retail and residential projects for client and investor partners.
